Wishes
A wish is something a person would like: a book, a pair of headphones, "socks, always". Wishes are written to be seen: the whole household can read them, so nobody has to ask. What stays hidden is who is getting it.
Wishes belong to a person in People. Open a person's page and look under Wishes, or open More → Wishes for everyone's wishes in one list.
Adding a wish
Tap + next to Wishes on a person's page, or + in the wish list, and fill in:
- Wish — the name.
- For — the person. It is already set when you start from their page.
- Link — paste a product page and Famn fetches a preview with the shop's name and picture. The preview is saved with the wish.
- Photo — take or choose a picture of your own. It replaces the link's picture in the list, and goes into a public link only if you choose to include photos.
- More details — a description, a price, and the occasion the wish is for.
- Especially wished for — marks the wish so it stands out in the list.
You can also add a wish from the share sheet: share a product page from your browser to Famn and choose Add wish.
The note under the form says it plainly: the household can see this wish; who is getting it stays hidden from the person it is for.
Taking on a wish
Under a wish that is not yours, tap I'll get this. From then on:
- You see You are getting this on the wish.
- The rest of the household sees
is getting this , so nobody buys it twice. - The person the wish is for sees nothing at all. Their list looks exactly as before.
Changed your mind? Tap Let someone else and the wish is open again. If two people tap at the same moment, the second one sees Someone got there first.
Taking on a wish is part of gift coordination, which is Premium. In a free household the button opens the Premium page; reading and writing wishes stays free.
Plan it as a gift
Right after you take on a wish, Famn asks Plan this as a gift? Tap Plan gift and the wish becomes a planned gift with the link and price carried over, and an errand appears in your Tasks so it turns up where you shop. Not now keeps the wish reserved without planning it.
Sharing wishes outside the household
Grandparents, godparents and friends are not household members, and they should not be: they would see who is getting what. Instead, share a link.
On a person's page, tap Share wishes in the app bar:
- Choose which wishes to include, up to 100. Select all and Select first 100 help with long lists.
- Give the page a Public heading, such as Nora's Christmas list.
- Choose whether to include descriptions, prices and photos.
- Choose the Link duration in days.
- Tap Create link, then share or copy it straight away. The link is not stored on your device; if you lose it, stop sharing it and create a new one.
Anyone with the link sees the selected wishes, their names and product links, and nothing else: no reservations, no other people, no household. Edits to the selected wishes show up on the page; wishes added later do not, so create a new link for those.
Under Active links you can Stop sharing at any time. The page stops working for everyone who has the link; information already copied cannot be taken back.
Editing and removing
Tap a wish to edit it, or open its menu (⋮) for Edit and Remove.

Tips
- Paste the link, skip the typing. The preview fills in the name and picture.
- Say which occasion. A wish tied to Christmas is easy to find in December.
- Share the link, not the household. A public link shows the wishes and hides the coordination.
- Take it on early. Reserving a wish is how the household avoids two of the same thing.
