Holdings
One Place for Your Homes, Vehicles and Belongings
Everything your family owns, in one shared place.
Holdings is where your family keeps track of the big things: your homes, your vehicles, and the belongings inside them. Instead of receipts in a drawer, service dates in someone's head, and "where is the serial number for the TV?" moments, it all lives in your shared space — visible to the whole family.
What's in Holdings?
Open More → Holdings and you'll find three sections, all shared with your space:
- Properties — your homes: the house, the cabin, the apartment you rent out. Each home holds its rooms, its belongings, its documents and its chores. See the Properties guide.
- Vehicles — cars, caravans and trailers, with registry details filled in for you. See the Vehicles guide.
- Items — search across everything you own, in every home. See the Items and Belongings guide.
Everything in Holdings belongs to your active space, so the whole family sees the same homes, the same vehicles, and the same belongings.
Why Families Use It
Everyone knows what we own — and where it is. The air fryer's receipt, the lawnmower's serial number, which storage room the ski boots ended up in. Registered once, findable forever.
Maintenance doesn't get forgotten. "Descale the coffee machine every 3 months", "Service the car before winter" — maintenance in Holdings creates ordinary Famn chores, so they show up in your task lists, can be ticked off by anyone, and earn XP like any other chore. Whatever needs attention next is always shown first.
You're ready for the insurance company. Capture a documentation snapshot of a home and Famn freezes a record of everything it contained — items, values, photos and receipts — as proof for a claim. See the Insurance Documentation guide.
Getting Started
- Go to More → Holdings
- Tap Add in the top corner and choose Home
- Follow the steps — only the essentials are required, everything else can wait
- Open your new home's Items tab and start adding belongings
Tip: Don't aim for a complete inventory on day one. Start with the valuable things — electronics, jewelry, tools, sports gear — and add the rest as you go. The Add several button makes it quick to register a whole room in one sitting.
Perfect for:
- Families who want one shared picture of what they own
- Keeping receipts, manuals and serial numbers findable
- Cabin owners juggling maintenance across two homes
- Being genuinely prepared if you ever need to make an insurance claim
