Contacts

Who has the plumber's number? With Contacts, everyone in the household does. Contacts belong to a Space, so the people your family relies on — the electrician, the babysitter, the school office, the neighbour with the spare key — are in one shared list instead of in one person's phone.

Opening Contacts

Open More and tap Contacts. The list shows the contacts of your active Space, with a name, a photo or initials, and their email, phone and organisation. Use the Search field to find someone; the list narrows as you type.

To see another household's contacts, switch Space first.

Adding a Contact

Tap + (Add contact). The form is grouped in sections:

  • Identity — first, middle and last name, nickname, pronouns and a photo. Tap Add more fields for prefix, suffix, birthday and anniversary.
  • Organization — switch on Is company for a business contact, then add the company, department, job title and role.
  • Communication — email and phone, plus language and time zone.
  • Address — street, city, postal code and country.
  • Notes — anything the household should know: "Rings the doorbell twice", "Invoices by email".

At least one of name, nickname, company, email or phone is required. Tap Create.

To change a contact later, open it and choose Edit contact. Delete contact removes it from the Space after a confirmation.

Importing From Your Phone

Tap the menu in the top-right corner and choose Import from phone. Famn asks for permission to read your phone's contacts; on iPhone you can grant access to selected contacts only.

Search or scroll the list, tick the people you want, or use Select all, then tap Import. Names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, organisation and the photo come across into the active Space. When it is done, Famn tells you how many were imported.

Importing the same person twice creates two contacts, so tick only the ones that are not in Famn yet.

Keeping Contacts on Your Devices

Famn can serve your contacts to the address book on your phone or computer through contact sync (CardDAV), so the plumber shows up when you dial without opening Famn. Setup lives under More → Calendar and contacts sync and is a Premium feature; the Calendar & Contacts Sync article walks through it.

Managing contacts inside Famn is free.

Tips

  • One Space, one address book. Put the cabin's caretaker in the cabin's Space and the school office in the family Space.
  • Write the note you would text a partner. "Ask for Ole, he knows the boiler" is what a contact is for.
  • Use the company switch. A business contact shows its company name first, so the list reads as "Rørhjelpen Nord", not "Nora".
