Items and Belongings

Your Family's Home Inventory

Register it once. Find it forever.

Items are the things your family owns — from the TV and the power tools to grandma's china. Each item lives in a home, in a room, together with its photos, receipts, values and maintenance. And when you need to find something, one search covers every home you have.

Adding Items

  1. Open a property in More → Holdings and go to the Items tab
  2. Tap Add item
  3. Give it a name, choose a type — Inventory for everyday things, Valuable for the things that matter for insurance — and place it in a room

That's all that's required. Behind More details you can add as much as you like:

  • Brand, model and serial number — the details insurance companies and repair shops always ask for
  • Purchase — price, date and retailer
  • Insured value — what you would claim today. Kept separate from the purchase price, which does not change
  • Warranty — when it expires, plus notes
  • Condition, category, quantity and tags

Adding a whole room at once

Registering everything one by one gets old fast. Use Add several:

  1. In the Items tab, tap Add several
  2. Type a name and press enter — the field stays ready for the next one
  3. The room and type stay selected between items, and each added item gets a quick Photograph button

Great for an evening on the sofa: walk through one room, type what you see, snap photos as you go.

Photos, Receipts and Documentation

Every item can hold photos and receipts — pictures, purchase receipts, manuals. They're attached to the item itself, so they follow it wherever it's moved.

Famn quietly shows you what's missing: small chips like No photo, No receipt, No serial number or No value on each item, and a Documentation summary for the whole home — "12 of 40 fully documented". No nagging, just an honest picture of how prepared you are.

Tip: For valuables, aim for photo + receipt + serial number. That combination is exactly what an insurance claim needs — and it's what the documentation snapshot freezes for you.

Finding Things Again

  • Within a home: the Items tab groups everything by room, with search and quick filters. The Unplaced chip shows items that haven't been assigned a room yet.
  • Across all homes: the Items entry on the Holdings overview searches everything you own, in every home. Filter by home, room, category, value range, missing documentation, or what needs looking after.
  • Moved something? Use Move item to put it in another room — or take it out of rooms entirely.

Maintenance: "Needs looking after"

Some things need regular care — descaling the coffee machine, sharpening the mower blades, servicing the bike.

  1. Open an item and tap Add maintenance
  2. Describe what needs doing, pick which chore list it belongs to, and how often — from every month to every 2 years
  3. Set when it's first due

The task lives in your chores, related to this item. Ticking it off anywhere updates it here — and earns XP, like any chore. Items that are overdue or due soon appear at the top of your Items list under Needs looking after, so nothing slips.

Perfect for:

  • A real home inventory that's actually kept up to date — because the whole family can add to it
  • Never losing a receipt, manual or serial number again
  • Knowing which of your valuables still lack documentation
  • Recurring care for the things that quietly demand it
